Remandly is a Canadian 24/7 intake and information line for people facing criminal charges in Ontario and Alberta.

Answered 24/7 · Your file opens while you talk · Text any time

Callers say what happened, a file opens while they talk, and a criminal defence lawyer’s office follows up. Remandly is not a law firm and does not give legal advice.

Who we are

Remandly — Markham, Ontario. Ontario Business Identification Number (BIN) 1001735963.

Mailing address Remandly 570 Hood Rd, Unit 14, Suite 5009 Markham, ON L3R 4G7 Canada

Who builds Remandly

Remandly is built by Ali Sheikh, its founder. He is Director of Finance at an Ontario criminal law firm, and has spent years watching what happens to people between an arrest and the first call that gets answered — and that call usually comes at 2 a.m. Remandly is the answer. He is based in Markham, Ontario. He is not a lawyer, and nothing on this site is his legal opinion.

Everything published here is reviewed against a standard set by a criminal defence lawyer licensed by the Law Society of Ontario, called to the bar in 2017, with more than 1,500 bail hearings. The reviewer is not named on the site, and will not be.

Who reviews this

Every page and every answer meets a standard reviewed by a criminal defence lawyer licensed in Ontario. The standard is public: editorial standards. Where a question can only be answered by a lawyer looking at the file, the page says so.

Remandly is free for you. The criminal defence office we work with pays Remandly a flat monthly fee for the software. We are never paid per client, per call, or from anyone’s legal fees.

What we are not

Remandly is not a law firm and does not give legal advice. Your file is passed to a criminal defence lawyer’s office, which is independent of Remandly. How files are routed and what Remandly is paid is set out on the lead routing page.

What is this about?

We’re building your file. Where should we send the file number?

One text with your file number and page. Nothing else.

When’s best for the office to reach you?

What should the office call you?

First name is enough.

Any papers at all?

Where should we send your file copy and the paperwork for your situation?

And a second number for the office — in case yours is tied up at the courthouse or with family.

A partner, a parent, a friend. Only used if the first number doesn’t answer.

Got a minute for a few more that help the office prepare?

A few short ones. You can stop any time.

Quick question?

One line back, then you’re returned to where you were. Not legal advice.

Ask Remandly.

Free 24/7 criminal law information · not legal advice · not a law firm. Type it or say it.
