What we collect
Only what you tap or type: where it happened, where things stand, whether you can pay a lawyer, the next court date, who the file is for, whether you have papers, your first name and a callback number if you give them, and, if you choose, a photo of your papers and your own words about what happened.
Why
So a criminal defence lawyer’s office can get on your file and know what to ask. Nothing is sold, and nothing about you is used to target advertising.
Who sees it
The criminal defence lawyer’s office your file is routed to, and the small team that runs this service. Consent is asked on the screen before anything is sent.
How long
Only as long as the matter is open, then it is deleted. You can ask for deletion sooner at any time.
Your choices
You can skip the number, skip the photo, or stop at any screen. Nothing is sent until you press Send.
Bot protection
Our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile in invisible mode to tell people from automated traffic. It runs silently and shows nothing on screen. Cloudflare’s handling of that check is described in the Cloudflare Turnstile Privacy Addendum.
Technical basics
To know which ad or page brought you here, the site keeps a small first-party note in your browser (a cookie and local storage, 90 days) with the link you arrived on, the referring page, the pages you viewed and how long you stayed. It is attached to your file only when you press Send or start a call. No third-party trackers, no advertising cookies, no data brokers.
Ad measurement
If you arrived from one of our ads, we tell Google Ads that the click led to a file, and later whether it led to a retained client, so we can measure our ads. No name, number, story or document is ever sent.
Who is accountable
Remandly has designated an individual accountable for its handling of personal information, as PIPEDA requires. That person is Remandly’s Director, who answers access and deletion requests and reports any breach. Their name is given on request. Contact: privacy@remandly.ca.
Access, deletion and breaches
You can ask what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. We acknowledge within 2 business days and answer within 30 days. If a breach of our safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we report it to the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and tell the people affected.
